THE LIFE AND
TIMES
OF A
COUNTRY BOY
"The Life and Times of a Country Boy"
By DOUG My own autobiography book, which was launched on to the worldwide market
in the year of 2006, tells of my love for the fields and countryside beginning
when I was only a lad of seven years old, my devilment of doing a bit of worldly
poaching, getting myself chased many many times by the gamekeepers for poaching
their rabbits, continuing on into adult life for my passionate love affair with
nature’s ways.
I tell of many characters I met along my way through life, spending many many
years in the beautiful picturesque Yorkshire Dales. I tell of the true life
story of a grouse moorland gamekeeper and his yearly cycle of the upkeep and the
shooting of his large grouse moor.
With me being a little green-fingered, I taught myself the unique art of growing
wild moorland heather high up on the hilltops, cultivated heather grows in the
same manner.
My big secret now exposed, the growing of heather will now be revolutionized to
the world.
And then there’s my love of horse dealing among the Romany gypsies, travelling
the country to all the horse fairs together with my beloved Appleby Horse Fair
up in Westmoreland.
Now, as I look back over those distant bygone years of yesteryear, I leave a
long dusty road behind me as I put pen to paper and write of my bygone years.
A hardy 206 pages of action-packed true-to-the fact stories.
Happy reading!
